Behind the Wine with Marvina Robinson

Behind the Wine with Marvina Robinson

B. Stuyvesant Champagne is making its mark on the Champagne world. Dreamed up in Brooklyn, New York, and harvested and bottled in Champagne, France, this special sparkler is the brain child of Marvina Robinson.

We are excited to welcome B. Stuyvesant Champagne to the Coravin Wine Shop – our curation selection of wines meant to inspire exploration for every kind of wine lover. To celebrate this exciting addition, we sat down with Marvina Robinson to talk winemaking, how she hopes to make an impact on the wine world, and – of course – taste the Champagnes.

About Marvina Robinson

Marvina's love affair with Champagne began in college. She and her friends would pool their limited funds to purchase a bottle of Moet & Chandon to share. They'd do a toast, cheers, and sip out of their plastic cups with pride. This tradition sparked a love for Champagne and eventually led Marvina to founding B. Stuyvesant Champagne.

About B. Stuyvesant Champagnes

B. Stuyvesant Champagne is named after Marvina's hometown, Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn. It's one of the few Aftrican American women-owned Champagne brands in the world.

The Coravin Wine Shop carries three B. Stuyvesant Champagnes – Demi Sec NV, Prestige Rosé NV, and Brut Rosé NV:

  • The Demi Sec is a blend of 80% Pinot Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir. It's light gold in color and has fresh notes of blood orange and hazelnuts.

  • The Prestige Rosé is 60% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay. To the eye it has a salmon pink color, and on the nose you can smell exotic fruits and candies.

  • The Brut Rosé is also 60% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier, and 20% Chardonnay. It's color is similar to the Prestige Rosé but notes lean towards raspberry and redcurrant with a taste of fleshy cherry.
