The precision-engineered Coravin® Needle smoothly passes through natural cork, preserving its integrity. Once removed, the cork naturally reseals to protect the wine. As you pour, 100% pure Argon gas – already trusted in the winemaking process – replaces the wine in the bottle, ensuring oxygen never touches the remaining wine and it stays as fresh as the day it was bottled.

Capsule Life
Each Capsule will allow you to pour up to 15 five-ounce (150ml) glasses of wine with Timeless Systems or 20 five-ounce glasses with Pivot™ Systems.
Average Pour Rate
On average, a 5-ounce (150ml) pour of wine with a Standard Needle will take 25 to 29 seconds.
Off-Center Needle
The Needle in the Coravin System is intentionally off-center, so the Needle will insert into the cork in a different place every time.

The Coravin Story
Greg Lambrecht brings his passion for wine to his workshop.
Greg Lambrecht, the founder and inventor of Coravin, combined his knowledge of medical-grade needles with his passion for wine to develop a unique wine preservation system that allowed him to pour wine without removing the cork. In the late 1990s, he brought his expertise in creating ultra-gentle and exceptionally precise needles for pediatric chemotherapy delivery to his home workshop, where he began working on a device that would change the way he drank wine.
The first Coravin product comes to life.
When Greg’s wife was pregnant with their first child, Greg found himself without a drinking partner. Now he was stuck having to drink a whole bottle once he opened it or pour it down the drain once it went bad , but what he truly wanted was the perfect glass of wine. Determined to find a solution, Greg put his dual degrees from MIT to work designing and prototyping a device that would allow him to pour wine by the glass. It would be more than eight years before he would launch the first Coravin Wine Preservation System: the Model C1000.
Three-Year Blind Tasting

Over years of testing, Greg collaborated with winemakers and leading experts to blind taste wines accessed with his invention. Together, they compared bottles accessed three months, six months, one year, and even three years earlier against freshly opened bottles of the same wines. Greg continues to test Coravin Systems worldwide – including a bottle first accessed 14 years ago with one of his original prototypes. With every blind tasting, the results are consistent: wines accessed with the Coravin Timeless wine by-the-glass system remain as fresh as the day they were bottled, even years later.
